Inside Leoforce’s Dallas Talent Leadership Roundtable: AI, Candidate Experience and the Future of Recruiting
Leoforce recently invited 17 talent acquisition and HR executives from across Dallas-Fort Worth to dinner. It was Global Talent Acquisition Day and there was no product demo, sales deck, or sneaky pitch. Just a few tables in a private space at Mamani to break bread as recruiting and hiring professionals with shared experiences. Three questions about where recruiting is heading permeated the evening.
That might sound like an unusual way for a recruitment technology company to spend an evening. It wasn’t an accident. It came from something our founder and CEO, Madhu Modugu, believes in strongly: recurring, non-commercial gatherings where talent leaders compare notes with peers instead of reading another trend report. Madhu has spent more than two decades in HR technology and the idea behind this dinner, and the ones that will follow in other cities, is simple: the people closest to the problem usually have the clearest view of where it’s going. Our job is to bring them into the same room.
What are talent acquisition leaders are actually asking about AI?
The conversation in Dallas covered a lot of ground but here are a few threads kept coming back:
- Recruiting is increasingly behaving like a marketing discipline. The employer value proposition still drives who applies, even when its return on investment is hard to prove to leaders outside HR. Tools that used to belong to marketing, like audience segmentation, funnel thinking and conversion are now core to talent acquisition.
- Candidates are using AI to research employers and roles before they ever reach your career site. This changes what “optimized” means for your careers page. It’s no longer just about ranking in a search engine. It’s about whether an AI assistant can find, understand, and accurately represent your company when prompted by a candidate.
- Advances in AI-powered recruiting efficiencies doesn’t replace the human touch. Nobody in that room thinks AI should replace recruiters. The debate was about where the line sits and how to make sure the time AI frees up goes toward relationship-building and better candidate experience, not away from it.
A gathering built for peers, not a pipeline
What made Dallas work wasn’t the venue (although Mamani didn’t hurt). It was the format. Seventeen people is small enough that everyone stays in the same conversation. No agenda beyond a handful of open questions. No one from standing at the front of the room clicking through PowerPoint slides. Product relevance came up naturally, the way it does between people solving the same problems, rather than through a formal pitch.
That’s the model Madhu set out to build, and it’s the one we intend to keep. This wasn’t a one-off marketing event. It was the first session of our new Leoforce Talent Leadership Roundtable: a place to debate where AI is actually changing the job, not just where the headlines say it is, and to help shape that shift instead of simply reacting to it.
This is just the first city. We’re already planning the next gathering in a new market, and we’d rather build this one city at a time, with the right people in the room, than scale it into something generic.
If you lead talent acquisition or HR for your organization and you’d like to bring a version of this conversation to your own city, we want to hear from you. Reach out to our team at marketing@leoforce.com and let’s talk about what a regional gathering could look like for the leaders in your market.
